Vision is one of our most important senses, yet we seem to take for granted until we start to lose it; shouldn't we be taking care of it before it starts to go?

There are many factors that can have an affect on your eye health, from the weather, looking at computer screens, driving and just everyday tired eyes. So keeping your eyes in tip-top condition is essential as these vision offenders can affect not only focus, but also peripheral vision, causing blurry eyes and dryness.

Age related macular degeneration can affect up to 3 in 10 people in later life, and is in fact one of the major causes of blindness. This figure combined with the number of people who develop cataracts and you can see why eye health is so important.

There are some very specific nutrients that we can use to help with eye health, including the amazing antioxidant Lutein, which helps fight free radical cell damage and protects against high energy blue light. Zeaxanthin, another carotenoid, works very closely with lutein and other antioxidants like lycopene in the macular. Bilberry and eyebright have also been traditionally used along with vitamin c to improve night vision.

Protect your eyes before you really need to!
