There are two natural sources of vitamin A; Retinol and Carotene.

Retinol is pre-formed vitamin A and is found mainly in animal foods such as liver and fish oils. 90%-95% of vitamin A is stored in the liver.

Carotene is found in plants such as green leafy vegetables and carrots. A powerful free radical scavenger, Beta Carotene can be consumed in larger amounts than Retinol as it is turned into vitamin A only when needed. The Government recommends that pregnant women avoid taking too much Retinol, therefore we recommend Beta Carotene in this situation.

Vitamin A is essential for maintaining:

    • Good eyesight
    • Healthy skin, tissue growth and bone development
    • Proper growth and functioning of the reproductive system
    • Mucous membrane integrity
    • Healthy immune system
